Servants in November!
Sunday, November 5th – Guys & Girls Night
Girls Group
Sunday, November 5th, the Grace family will be hosting our girls group! Meet at their house (1337 Asbury Avenue) at 6:00 for dinner and a movie! We’ll vote on the movie, but rumor has it that She’s the Man will be one option. Hope to see you there! For questions, directions, or a ride, contact Brooke at 847.441.3400 x17 or brooke@wcc-joinus.org
Guys Night
Time and place to be determined – you will get a call from Rob to let you know the secret undercover location and activity soon!
Monday, November 6th – College Care Packages
Remember when you were at camp that summer and you were sad because you missed home and the food was awful and you wanted to cry? Well that’s college. Except instead of archery there’s Intro to Psych. So we’re going to send the freshman Servants alumni care packages to tide them over till they come home for Thanksgiving.
Friday, November 10th – Sunday, November 12th – Servants Fall Retreat
I left my glasses in Saugatuck, Michigan and I need to pick them up this weekend, but I get bored driving alone so I’m looking for 19 other people to keep me company. While we’re there, I figure we’ll stay the weekend and play a ton of games and get to know each other better. You can bring friends if you want. In fact, I’ll send you a reminder about it so you can RSVP, because I really need to get my glasses back.
Monday, November 13th – Wish Tree/Youth Sunday Prep
Every year, Servants organizes the Wish Tree, a gift drive for over 300 families in need of help. We’ll be putting together the ornaments for the tree so we can get an early start. Also, Youth Sunday is in six days. We’ll finish preparing for it while we’re here. Your favorite band will also be performing live in the Servants room so you should come check it out.
DATE CHANGE: Wednesday, November 15th – We are going to talk about the movie Hotel Rwanda. It is an incredibly powerful movie with a lot to say. Try and watch the movie beforehand but if you can’t, that’s ok – we’ll show clips. And let me know if you have ideas for dinner…
Sunday, November 19th – Youth Sunday
Ever watch Joe, Jenny, and Connie up there on Sunday and think to yourself, “Hey, I could do a better job than them.” Me, too. Here’s your chance to prove it. The Servants will be running the entire service, making it all youth-y. It’s fun, and it counts double on your go-to-church scorecard.
Monday, November 20th – Seniors Lead
The Seniors will be leading this meeting, so ask them for a pithy and entertaining description of what we’re doing, because I don’t know. I plan to just sit in the corner and heckle.
Sunday, November 26th – Sunday Lunch
That sermon made me hungry. Let’s get some food after church. We can talk about how our weekends went and how unbelievable that local sporting event was. What? You missed it? It was unbelievable! I am willing to make wake-up calls for those of you who stayed up all night Saturday finishing your homework.
Monday, November 27th – Salvation, Heaven, Hell
We have a definitive list of who’s going where, and what happens when they get there. The results may surprise you (for instance, I’m going to New Jersey).
